I have been getting a great deal of inquiries on what to do with the new surge of “civil judgments” coming from unpaid credit card debts and even on 2nd mortgages. If you have received a notice of a “civil judgment” , it’s probably too late to deal with the original creditor. This debt is old enough that the collection agency may own it outright.  This is definitely not something that you should ignore and the good news are that debts are settled “on the courthouse steps” all the time.
